Lindy Perry-Garnette, MSW
Executive Director
Lindy Perry-Garnette, MSW was selected as the Executive Director of The Arc of Greensboro in July 2021. She has over 35 years of experience in human services management in the nonprofit sector as well as in local government and has a life-long passion for advocating for those who need a voice. Lindy began her career developing and managing residential and supported employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities I/DD. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. Lindy serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor for the University of Maryland Global College, where she teaches Diversity Awareness and Disability Studies. In addition to her professional work, Lindy is the parent of an adult son with intellectual disabilities and mental health challenges.
Bridget Watson, MA
Vocational & Community Navigator Directory
Bridget Watson, MA has been the Vocational and Community Navigator Director at The Arc of Greensboro for 12 years. Bridget holds a Master of Arts Degree in Health and Wellness Counseling. Bridget supervises the day-to-day activities of The Arc’s Supported Employment and Community Navigator staff as they assist clients and families with on-the-job support, advocacy, resources, and public awareness. She also provides support to develop social networks with community organizations to increase the client’s opportunity to expand valued social relationships. Bridget ensures collaborative efforts with Vocational Rehabilitation Service, Sandhills Center, United Way, Grantors, and other community partners. Bridget is a highly skilled professional with 28 years of experience working with children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). She is goal and detail oriented with strong leadership capabilities. Bridget is a very motivated professional that continues to enrich the lives of clients in the community. Don Scales, MPA
arcBARKS Director
Don Scales, MPA is the arcBARKS Director. He has worked at The Arc of Greensboro for 6 years, starting as arcBARKS Business Manager in June 2015 and becoming the Program Director in May 2018. Don graduated from James Madison University with a BA in History and attained a Master’s in Public Affairs from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2015. During graduate school Don worked at Spring Garden Bakery while also completing internships at the NC Institute of Political Leadership and the City of Burlington City Manager’s Office. Don is passionate about public service and advocating for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Alison Brubaker, M.Ed. Q.P.
Employment Specialist for Project SEARCH
Alison Brubaker, M.Ed. Q.P. is an Employment Specialist for Project SEARCH. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro with both a B.A. in Public Relations and Communication Studies and Master of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies of Preschool Education and Development. Alison previously worked for Guilford County Schools as a Tutor and Substitute Teacher. This will be Alison's 10th year with Project SEARCH. Alison can be reached at: Abrubaker@arcg.org
Billie Jones, M.Ed
Job Specialist with Project SEARCH
Billie Jones, M.Ed is a Job Specialist with Project SEARCH. She has an undergraduate degree from West Virginia University in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree from UNC Chapel Hill in Special Education. Stela Tomas
Employment Specialist
Stela Tomas is an Employment Specialist at The Arc of Greensboro. She has served individuals with I/DD since 1989. Stela’s experience includes working in day programs across different agencies. Since January 2008 Stela has worked with The Arc of Greensboro assisting consumers with job placements. She thrives on seeing consumers find success in their jobs, and in their lives, enjoying activities such as attaining a driving license, living independently and being successful in all endeavors of their choosing. Andrea Smith
Assistant Director of arcBARKS
Andrea Smith has been the Assistant Director of arcBARKS since May 2018. She attended UNCG for Biological and Cultural Anthropology before making a career switch to professional baking. Andrea came to arcBARKS with a background in professional baking and business management. Since Andrea joined The Arc of Greensboro, arcBARKS has utilized her Research and Development experience and expertise to release two new types of treats. Andrea loves her position at arcBARKS and the opportunity to teach arcBARKS Bakers all the processes that go into treat production.
Leah Isaac
Receptionist
Leah has been the part-time Receptionist with The Arc of Greensboro since 2012. She is a 2006 graduate of Eastern High School. Since beginning work with The Arc of Greensboro, Leah has gotten her driver’s license and a van making getting to and from work much easier. Leah has lived in her own apartment since 2016.
Charles Boyd
Custodian
Charles has been the part-time Custodian with The Arc of Greensboro since May 1989. He makes sure the offices are spotless and clutter free. In addition to his custodial work, Charles brings a bright smile to work every day and entertains staff with his beautiful voice.
Chardae Sykes
Employment Specialist
Chardae Sykes is an Employment Specialist and has worked for The Arc of Greensboro for one year. She has 12 years of experience in the Human Services field. Chardae enjoys working with the I/DD population and is ecstatic to continue growing and serving. Chardae can be reached at: CSykes@arcg.org
Almesha Mitchell, BS
Employment Specialist
Almesha Mitchell, BS is an Employment Specialist and has worked for The Arc of Greensboro for one year. She has a BS in Human Development and Family studies from UNC Greensboro. Almesha previously worked with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in an adult day center setting for over four years. She values equality for the individuals The Arc serve. As an employment specialist, Almesha understands the importance of support in the workplace just as much as the home. Nancy Overby
Lead Community Navigator
Nancy Overby is the Lead Community Navigator. She began with The Arc of Greensboro in 2016 as a volunteer. Nancy joined the staff in 2016 as a Program Assistant with arcBarks, and transitioned to the Community Navigator role in 2017. As a Community Navigator, she provides support for individuals with I/DD, and their families, providing resources, advocacy, future-planning, and developing positive strategies to overcome challenges in a variety of settings. Nancy's passion for serving this population developed from her experience being the mother of a child with Autism, as she has personally navigated the challenges that those in the I/DD community encounter on a daily basis. Marcy Williams
Community Navigator
Marcy Williams is a Community Navigator. She started with The Arc of Greensboro as a volunteer and joined the staff in 2015 as a Billing Specialist. In 2018 Marcy transferred to the Community Navigator program as she wanted to help more individuals and families with advocacy and support. For many years prior to coming to The Arc, Marcy was a paralegal. She left employment for about 13 years to care for a family member with special needs. Marcy may be reached at: mwilliams@arcg.org
Jamie Rauschkolb, BA
Community Navigator
Jamie Rauschkolb, BA is a Community Navigator. She began working with The Arc of Greensboro in 2012
as the Assistant Director at arcBARKS. After two years in that position, Jamie left the organization and then returned as a Program Specialist. For the past two years, she has served as a Community Navigator. Jamie holds two Bachelor’s Degrees from UNCG, one in Psychology and one in Studio Art. Jamie can be reached at: jrauschkolb@arcg.org
Maddie Ward
Maddie Ward is a UNCG Graduate Assistant for The Arc of Greensboro. She is working on her Master’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Maddie is originally from northern Virginia. She has been with The Arc for the past year, working with Aktion club, Challenger Sports and assisting in other program areas when needed.
Lyndsay Champion
Program Support Specialist
Lyndsay Champion is a Program Support Specialist and has worked with The Arc of Greensboro for 10 years. She has experience coordinating the Challenger Sports League for baseball, basketball and bowling. Lyndsay was the Director for the RemArcable Community for 5 years, a meaningful day program provided by The Arc of Greensboro that operated a pottery studio and offered holistic daily life skills classes and therapies. Currently, Lyndsay works behind the scenes, publishing the monthly Arc Advocate Newsletter, keeping the community up to date with the best resources and inspiration in Greensboro.
