My love for the community of people with developmental and intellectual differences began when I met my husband's brother - a person with Down Syndrome. Joining this family led me to a career as a special educator. I taught in Guilford County Schools for 27 years spanning grades 1st through 9th. In 2010 I transitioned to UNCG School of Education where I spent the next 10 years as an academic coach for two Department of Education grants. I retired January 1, 2020. It is a privilege and an honor to continue my involvement with this community by serving as a board member for The Arc.
